Liturgical & Church Ministry

Each program and ministry of the Church keeps Jesus at the center and meets you where you are. We have additional opportunities to learn and serve through our parish family and community for adults and teens. Help others benefit from these great programs and ministries by being an active part of your parish.
“We are called to this place and to these people. We minister to this place and to these people in the name of Jesus Christ for the welfare of this place and for all these people, regardless of their faith or their background, even though we joyfully proclaim Jesus to everyone.”
bereavement team
The bereavement ministry offers support and help in times of greatest need in the death of loved one. There are many details to handle while suffering grief and it is a consolation to families to have help planning funeral liturgy. Meeting with family members, bereavement ministers work with them in choosing hymns, readings, and petitions for the funeral mass. Families leave, assured the bereavement member will be present at the funeral mass to carry out their wishes.

How our Parishes serve you in times of death:
  • Meet to help plan the Mass
  • Make necessary arrangements for funeral
  • Contact and coordinate with funeral home
  • Arrange altar servers and attendants for funeral
  • Set-up church or day chapel on the day of the funeral
  • Live stream of Mass, if requested
  • Assist families in the coordination of luncheons, if applicable
  • Make Gathering Space available, if requested by family/funeral home

Ministry doesn't end there -- we continue with support for those who are having a difficult time with the loss of their loved one through Companions on the Journey and Stephen Ministry.

Are you planning a funeral? Documents to assist you can be found under Resources.

Please contact our Parish Offices to become involved with this ministry.
decorating & care team
Our parishes' decorating and care teams meet seasonally to walk through facilities and grounds. If you have experience in cleaning, decorating, maintenance (plumbing, heating, electrical or any related field) and would like to be on this committee, please call the parish office you are able to assist.
festival & major events committees
These committees coordinate our annual major events; including, but not limited to:
  • St. Mike Fest
  • St. John Family Festival
  • St. Carlo Acutis Family Picnic
  • Lenten Fish Fry Fridays

If you are able to help at any of these events, please contact our Parish Offices.
homebound communion
The faithful who are ill are deprived of their rightful and accustomed place in the Eucharistic community. In bringing communion to them the Minister of Communion represents Christ and manifests faith and charity on behalf of the whole community toward those who cannot be present at the Eucharist. For the sick the reception of communion is not only a privilege but also a sign of support and concern shown by the Christian community for its members who are ill.

If you are able to take communion to the sick, please contact any of our parish offices.

liturgical assembly
When the Church comes together in the liturgical assembly to celebrate the Mass, members of the congregation do not gather simply as a crowd. They gather in a variety of ministries and roles as well. These ministries and roles listed below, carried out by members of the church, are a significant part of the Mass and sacramental celebrations. If you would like to be involved in any of the ministries listed below, please contact the individual Parish Offices.

Lectors—Lay person, teenager through adult, who proclaims the Word of God at Mass. Lectors read the first and second readings, along with the intercessions (unless a deacon is at Mass).

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion—Confirmed Catholics of high school age thru adult who help distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to their fellow parishioners at Mass.

Altar Attendants (Servers)—Kids and adults who serve the entire assembly by their example of prayer and by assisting the priest and ministers during the Mass.

Hospitality Ministers—Open to any age group. They greet and welcome people as they arrive for Mass, hand out programs if need be, and assist with any special needs of the assembly during Mass. Hospitality Ministers also help with collections (where applicable), but those helping with the collection should be at least 7th grade or older.

Sacristans—Lay person, seventh grade through adult, who arrives early and prepares the wine, hosts, and all necessary vessels used for Mass.

Ushers—Lay person, seventh grade through adult, who arrives early and prepares the wine, hosts, and all necessary vessels used for Mass.
